My name is David Kent, owner of DPT fitness. I am a fully qualified personal trainer and teacher that has worked in education and coaching for over 15 years in a variety of settings. I began coaching sports in schools at the age of 17, taking P.E. sessions for all age groups - primary, secondary and including SEND. This is where I gained the motivation to study sports at university as well as a love for working with children.

Whilst studying for my degree at Leeds Beckett University I continued to work in schools as well as going to Camp America and working on Summer Camps all over the USA, teaching canoeing, rock climbing, zip lining, basketball and much more. This was a fantastic experience as I got to work and travel making lots of lifelong friends whilst doing so.

After graduating university I worked as a cover supervisor in a Secondary School covering teachers lessons from English and Maths to Art in KS3 and KS4, working closely with children taking their GCSE's. During this time I was also coaching basketball and working with some elite athletes aiming to play at higher levels around the world.

I then moved to London to work as a Personal Trainer as well as train as a Primary School Teacher. I worked in some very difficult inner city schools gaining my PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) and QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), focusing primarily on the Primary Curriculum and preparing children for SAT's testing. During this time I also ran my own personal training business where I trained clients, ran boot camps and coached people to achieve their fitness goals. Still in London I gained a job at a top private boys prep school where I was the head of P.E. as well as helping boys to pass their 11+ examinations in order to enter their chosen schools. This was also whilst studying for my Masters at the University of West London in Leadership and Innovation.

After 7 years in London I moved back to Doncaster with my wife and son where I have been teaching in Primary Schools in the area for 4 years as well as training friends and family in their fitness needs.

I have decided to relaunch my fitness business after deciding to leave the classroom after 8 years of teaching. So whatever your fitness goals I aim to help you achieve them.
